Obituary of Jimmy Lee Rice

Jimmy Lee “Jim” Rice, 72, husband to Martha Cartee Rice for 35 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2023. Mr. Rice was born in Laurens to the late Paul Rice and Allie Wood Rice. He was a member of Agape Baptist Church and retired from JD Hollinsworth. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Jim was a man of few words, humble spirited and forever kind to others. He had an unforgettable laugh and loved his family. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Amber Rice (Maria); a step-daughter, Nikki Mahaffey; a step-son, Mark Mahaffey (Kim); five grandchildren Zack, Alicia, Brandon, Asa, and Aimee; three great-grandchildren, Calliegh, Jeffrey, and Adriana; and two nieces, Angel Forrester (Jeremy) and April McCartney (Dwayne). He was predeceased by a stepson, Jeff Mahaffey; a brother, Danny McCartney; and a sister, Stella Rice. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be 2 o’clock Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends an hour prior.
