Obituary of Rosa Lee Balcombe Burdette

Rosa Lee Balcombe Burdette, 89, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2023. Ms. Burdette was born in Laurens to the late Arree Casper Balcombe and Marie Brown Balcombe. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Rosa Lee worked at McWhite’s Jewelry Store, Steel Heddle, and the Fountain Inn Snack Bar before retiring from Kemet Electronics. She later volunteered at Hillcrest Hospital for over 20 years, and from the Senior Action Center for over 7 years. She enjoyed camping and fishing. She was a collector of Angel figurines. Surviving are a daughter, Teresa Burdette (Joel); a sister, Vivian Miller; a special nephew, Gene Balcombe (Cindy); three grandchildren, Brittany Flannery (Dillon), Blake Godley (Tyler), and CPL Carson Kundolf; and five great-grandchildren, Landon, Skylar, River, Ivy and Dakota Rose. She was predeceased by a son, Anthony Burdette; three brothers, J.C. Balcombe, Charlton Balcombe and Everett Balcombe; and two sisters, Margaret Grogan and Nellie Sue Balcombe. Visitation will be 5 – 7 pm Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service. A Celebration of Rosa Lee’s Life will be 11 o’clock Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Jim Spencer. Burial will follow in Cannon Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605; or to the Meyer Center for Special Children, 1132 Rutherford Road, Greenville, SC 29609.
