Obituary of Harold Melton

Harold Eugene Melton, 88, husband of Betty Jo Martin Melton for 70 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Mr. Melton was born in Roebuck to the late John Newton Melton and Ruth Coggins Melton. He was a member of Switzer First Baptist Church. He retired as the owner and operator of Melton Embroidery. Harold was a member of the Woodruff Masonic Lodge, HEJAZ Shrine Club, and served as President of Woodmen of the World Camp 445. He served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, constructing several homes throughout the Woodruff community. Harold enjoyed farming and playing the spoons in local Blue Grass Music events. He loved people by his very nature, and worked diligently to help better his community. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Dennis Melton; a daughter, Tammy Hatfield with husband Jeff; a brother, Paul Melton; six grandchildren, Dink Melton, Ashley Melton, Courtney Durham with husband Eric, Shannon Melton, Heather Barberio with husband Jonathon, and Lauren Duncan with husband Chad; and eight great-grandchildren, Makayle, Madison, Kinsley, Finn, Ben, Everly, Mila and Madi. He was predeceased by a son, Donnie Melton; three brothers, Herman Melton, Marvin Melton, and Melvin Melton; and four sisters, Mabel Hayes, Helen Sutherland, Sarah Melton, and Mildred Melton. The family will receive friends between 5 – 7 pm Monday at Fletcher Funeral Service – Woodruff. The family will conduct a memories ceremony at 6 o’clock.
