Obituary of SGT Manuel Kellock Maldonado

SGT Manuel Kellock Maldonado, US Army Retired, 60, husband of Mary Lee Bridges Maldonado for 12 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 14, 2023. Mr. Maldonado was born in Hollywood, FL to the late Manuel Maldonado and Betsy Anderson Maldonado. He was a Desert Storm veteran and a member of American Legion Post #33. His army career was between the years 1981 – 2004. He was a goldsmith by trade. Manuel enjoyed target shooting, camping, and playing the drums. He spoke four languages and held two black belts in Tae Kwon Do. He was a collector of knives and GI Joe memorabilia. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Chino Maldonado with wife Rachel, Mario Maldonado with wife Katrin, and Chris Marcus with wife Candid; a daughter, Amanda Byrd with husband Michael; ten grandchildren, Michaela Byrd with husband James Brown, Devon Byrd, Justin Byrd, Dennis Byrd, Cierra Marcus, Jayvin Marcus, Cole Marcus, Hayleigh Maldonado, Cailin Maldonado, and Payson Maldonado; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Alexander “Gage” Byrd and Kayla Nelson Maldonado. A receiving of friends will be between 4 – 6 o’clock Sunday, February 26th, at Fletcher Funeral Service – Woodruff. Burial, with Military Honors, will be at 11 o’clock Monday, March 13th, at Arlington National Cemetery.
