Obituary of Virginia Forrester Vaughan

Ginger Forrester Vaughan, 82, of Mauldin, died Wednesday, March 15, 2023, after an extended illness. Born December 6, 1940, in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Virginia Forrester of Mauldin, SC. Mrs. Vaughan graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1958 and Furman University in 1961. Upon graduation, she was a music teacher in the public schools. She taught private piano for many years, and was a gifted music director, serving at both Mauldin United Methodist Church and Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. She worked for many years alongside her husband and son at Vaughan Equipment Co. as well. Mrs. Vaughan was a lifelong member of Mauldin United Methodist Church and was active in all phases of the church for many years, including Administrative Board, Chancel Choir, and the Wren Circle. She was also active in the Music Club of Mauldin, Mauldin Garden Club, and her beloved “Lunch Bunch.” Surviving are her husband, James Douglas (Doug) Vaughan; a son, James Douglas (Jay) Vaughan, Jr. (Jill); two daughters, Gindi Vaughan Prutzman (Keith), and Kari Vaughan Savage (Shane); niece, Meredith Montgomery Kinerney (Butch); eleven grandchildren, Lansing Dickson (Blake), Forrest Vaughan (Kelley), Chase Vaughan (Jayne), Camden Vaughan (Katie), Ginna Prutzman, Gage Prutzman, Garrett Savage (Savannah), Savannah Yown (Hayden), Judiclaire Kinerney, Jack Kinerney, and Noah Kinerney; five great-grandchildren, Beckett Dickson, James Dickson, Inslee Dickson, Parker Vaughan, and Kate Vaughan. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Judi Forrester Green who died in 1993, and a granddaughter, Anne Catherine Kinerney who died in 2000. Visitation will be Friday, March 17 at 10:00 am at Mauldin United Methodist Church with funeral services at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home, 409 Forrester Rd., Greenville, SC. Special thanks to her caregiver, Heather Massey, for her loving care over the past year and to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care Palmetto Region over the past 2 months.
