Obituary of Martha Nabors

Please share a memory of Martha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Martha Fowler Ross Nabors, 84, widow of Robert Earl Ross, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Mrs. Nabors was born in Greenville to the late Seaborn Benjamin Fowler and Lydia Emmaline Hensley Fowler. She and Robert Earl were charter members of New Hope Baptist (now Upstate Church – Mauldin) since its founding in 1955. Martha loved music, particularly hymns, all of her life. She served many years as the church organist at New Hope. A devoted member of the AGAPE Sunday School Class, she experienced much joy in the Lord with these special Christian friends. Martha was a graduate of Mauldin High School and Draughons Business College. Retiring after nineteen years from Liberty Life Insurance Company of Greenville, she became a valued part of the dental office team of Henry W. Suber, Jr. in Mauldin for many years. She will be remembered by all who knew her – family, friends, co-workers – as one who brought sunshine into their lives with her bright smile and generous gifts of love, optimism, support, and Christian example. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Whitworth with husband Scott, and Shanda Owens with husband Marc; five grandchildren, Michael Whitworth, Ashley Owens with husband Evan, Jeremy Whitworth with wife Kristin, Preston Owens, and Madison Owens; ten great-grandchildren, Camden, Olivia, Hudson, Brody, Emelia, Everleigh, Sloane, Presley, Scarlette, and Collins; a sister-in-law, Vera Lee Fowler; a nephew, Luther Wilton Fowler, Jr.; and a niece, Tina Fowler. She was predeceased by her second husband, Tommy Nabors; a brother, Luther Wilton Fowler; and a sister, Betty Hawkins. A Celebration of Martha’s Life will be 2 o’clock Monday at Upstate Church – Mauldin, officiated by Pastor Ashley Moore and Rev. Rob White. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial beside Robert will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Simpsonville (in honor of Martha Nabors), 3 Hedge Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
