Obituary of George Nash

George Lee Nash, 95, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 14, 2023 to be reunited with his wife Viola of 72 years in their Heavenly home. He was the son of the late Mamie Kellett and Dee Virgil Nash. He was a WWII, U.S. Navy veteran and a Mason. George was a member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church. He retired as a track foreman from Atlantic Coastline Railroad and from John D. Hollingsworth Corp. as maintenance supervisor after 44 years of service. He is survived by a daughter, Donna Laakkonen (Billy); a son, Ronnie Nash (Susan); four grandchildren, Hayley Bennett (Jason), Seth Laakkonen, Megan Wrenn (Justin), and Brandon Nash (Taylor); six great-grandchildren, Chandler and Carson Bennett, Justin Eubanks, Kynlee and Hayes Wrenn and Bowen Nash; and a sister, Margaret Thackston. He was predeceased by three brothers; and two sisters. The family would like to thank his long-time caregiver, Tammy Pyles, and caregivers, Keeley Terry and Carolyn Young for their comfort and support during this time. An entombment service will be 10 o’clock Tuesday at Cannon Byrd Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Eddie Howard. The family will receive friends immediately follow the service. Fletcher Funeral Service
