Obituary of Judith Ann Hunter

Judith “Judy” Newman Hunter, 81, wife of George Walter Hunter for 65 years went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Mrs. Hunter was born in Greenville to the late Charles Hicks Newman and Ruth Sorrell Newman. She was a member of Word of Life Ministries and loved the Lord. Judy was a prayer warrior, loved people and had a heart of gold. Judy was a cosmetic consultant at Belk, retiring after 20 years of service. She then worked for 10 years as a receptionist at Mauldin Paint & Body. Judy was a sweet-spirited soul and a woman of class. She enjoyed shopping, decorating, cosmetics and being well-dressed. Judy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and “Granny”. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Barry Hunter, Robert Hunter (Brenda) and Charlie Hunter; two daughters, Debra Moore and Cynthia “Cindy” McIntire; a sister, Penelope “Penny” Green; eleven grandchildren, Regina, Christina, Casey, David, LeeAnn, Katelan, David, Lee, Autumn, Corey, and Michael; twenty-six great-grandchildren, Marissa, Alyssa, Isaac, Berlynn, Cydney, Hunter, Ashton, Jacob, Lexie, Ethan, Chloe, Heath, Emma, Ryan, Bella, Dallas Wayne, Dave, Isabella, Maddie, Pressley, James, Brella, Breonna, Hailey, Paisley, and Cohen; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kylin and Drelynn. She was predeceased by a son, Billy Hunter and a granddaughter, Jessie. A Celebration of Life will be 4pm Monday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends and hour prior. Entombment will follow at Cannon Byrd Memorial Park.
