James “Jake” Walter Wood, Sr, 62, husband of Sylvia Hughes Wood, went to be with the Lord, Monday, April 03, 2017.
Mr. Wood was born in Laurens to Doris Roberts Wood and the late Walter “Dub” Wood, Jr. He loved to fish but his grandchildren were his life. He was a member of Green Pond United Methodist Church where he was a lay minister and a Sunday School Teacher.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are two sons, Jess Wood (Katrina) and Niles Wood (Saija); four grandchildren, Eli, Shyann, Chance and Walter Wood ; a sister, Sherry Beck (James) and his beloved dog, Dabo.
Visitation will be 6-7:30pm Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service.
Funeral Services will be 2pm Thursday at Green Pond United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Dials United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Green Pond United Methodist Church, 168 Stoddard Mill Road, Gray Court, SC 29645 or to Gentiva Hospice, 529 Mills Ave, Greenville, SC 29605.
