Obituary of Joe Thompson

Joseph “Joe” Robert Thompson, 80, husband of the late Barbara Wood Thompson, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Mr. Thompson was born in Laurens to the late Robert Lee Thompson and Louise Rogers Thompson. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and retired from Sew Simple Systems. Joe enjoyed camping with family, farming, and cattle ranching. Surviving, is a son, Mark Thompson; and a grandson, Joseph Thompson. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Wood Thompson; and his brother, Allan Thompson. Funeral services will be 1 o’clock Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Jim Spencer. Family will receive friends an hour prior. Burial will follow at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
