Obituary of Marie Onofrio

Marie Thérese “Mithé” Onofrio, wife of Daniel Joseph Onofrio, Jr., for 50 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Mrs. Onofrio was born in Brest, France to the late Suzanne Mallegol Roignant and Pierre Rovira. After being raised by her grandparents, Marie, alone, speaking no English, bravely traveled to America at the age of 17 to be reunited with her mother and step-father, Jean-Yves Roignant. She resided in Connecticut most of her life and proudly gained her US citizenship on Flag Day, June 14, 1991. She retired as co-owner of Scorpion Fasteners with her husband, and enjoyed being a “snowbird” in Venice, Florida where they became permanent residents in 2007. Marie and Daniel recently moved to Fountain Inn, SC in February, 2023 to be closer to family. Marie loved beach trips and traveling to France to visit family. She was also an avid BINGO player. She enjoyed supporting and attending her children and grandchildren’s events often attending horse shows, wrestling meets, baseball games and pageants. Surviving, in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Christine Potts and husband TR; a son, Kevin Onofrio and wife Carla and four grandchildren, Alexis Potts, Riley Potts, Marina Onofrio and Myra Onofrio. She is predeceased by 2 sisters and 1 brother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Post Office Box 11796, Charlotte, NC 28220. A Celebration of Marie’s Life will be at 10 o’clock Monday at First Baptist Simpsonville. Burial will follow at Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park.
