Obituary of Francis Freeman

Francis Lawson Freeman, 82, husband of the late Thelma Olean Lunsford Freeman, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Mr. Freeman was born in Asheville, NC to the late Plenney Lawson Freeman and Annes Margaret Searcy Freeman. He retired from Duke Power Company and was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Francis enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a collector of CB radios. His greatest joy was being PanPaw to his great-grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, Marcus Freeman with wife Angie, and Randy Burleson; a daughter, Sharon Gregory; a sister, Joyce Kendrick; eight grandchildren, Amy Sutherland (Clint), Shawna Orr (Patrick), Trista Jones (Jonathan), Keith Burleson, Greg Burleson, Gabby Burleson, Billy Burleson, and Dalton Gregory; fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Chuck Freeman; three brothers, Larry Freeman, Bob Freeman, and Harvey Freeman; a sister, Beverly Phillips; and a grandson, Chazsten Freeman. A Celebration of Francis’ Life will be 3 o’clock Monday at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the residence (100 Pinefield Drive in Greenville) starting at 5 o’clock Monday.
