Obituary of Franky Lancaster

Franklin “Franky” David Lancaster, 63, cherished husband of Marla Dickson Lancaster of 37 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 15th, 2023. Franky was born in Greenville, SC to Roosevelt and Betty Jo Sanders Lancaster. Franky was a 1978 Mauldin High graduate and is remembered as an outstanding baseball pitcher for the MHS Mavericks. At a young age, Franky enjoyed volunteering with his father for Mauldin Fire Department and later volunteered for Fountain Inn Fire Department. He retired from 3M Company after 35 years of employment and serving on the 3M emergency response team. Franky was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Fountain Inn, SC for 36 years. Franky loved being with his family, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. Franky was a humble man, had a wonderful sense of humor, served others selflessly, and loved his Pleasant Grove Baptist Church family. Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, is adored son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Lancaster and Courtney Long Lancaster; two sisters, Denise Lancaster and Donna Brown; an aunt, Lois A. Sanders; and many loving nieces, nephews, two great nieces and a great nephew. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents; Lois Carnell Sanders and Albert Calvin Sanders, paternal grandparents; Tabitha Graydon Lancaster and John Henry Lancaster, and a sister, Diane Lancaster Spicer. A celebration of life will be on Monday, June 19th, 2023 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Fountain Inn, SC. Receiving of friends will be held at 11 o’clock and a service will be at 12 o’clock. A private burial will follow in Cannon Byrd Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Joe Stephenson, Dr. Jeffery Edenfield and their supporting staff at Prisma Health Cancer Institute for all of the love and care given to Franky and the family.
