Obituary of John Marshall Cordell II

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Marshall Cordell died early Sunday Morning in a car crash. He was 22 yrs old. Marshall (as he was called) loved good books. He loved to discuss what he read and how it pertained to his life. He loved good movies( Especially the classics) and he loved cars. He loved working on cars and going through each ride until it died or was wrecked. He must have went through at least 9 in his short life. Marshall wasn’t afraid to try different food concoctions in the kitchen leaving dirty dishes. He was finally learning how to clean up after himself. He loved when others cooked and was very appreciative of a good meal. He especially loved his grandmother’s cooking and never turned down a chance to spend time at grandpa and grandma’s farm. Marshall was a beautiful, polite person who had a zest for life. He had lots of dreams that he did not get to fulfill. He is survived by his mother, Judith Lampron Cordell of Anderson and his father, Jeffrey Edwin Cordell (Sonya Carter) of Pendleton. He has two sisters, Claire Cordell of Pendleton and Sarah Cordell of Clemson. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Anthony Joseph Lampron of Charlotte, NC and Carolyn T. Lampron of Salisbury, NC.. His paternal grandparents are John Marshall Cordell and Kathleen Mann Cordell of Hartwell, GA .He had many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him . Marshall had lots of friends and people in his life that were like family but not connected by blood. We know he would want to acknowledge these people. You all know who you are and we are forever grateful to each and every one of you for being a part of his life. A celebration of his life will take place at First Baptist Church, Simpsonville, SC at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 15th. A short post visitation with family will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the cancer society or animal rescue of your choice. Marshall had not learned yet that we are not invincible. He thought he drove better than he actually did. He went too fast around one too many curves. He was so close to home. He was loved and will be missed. Parents tell your children you love them because it may be your last chance. John Marshall Cordell, II went home to rest in the arms of his loving Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 9, 2017, as the result of injuries he sustained in a single-car accident. At the tender age of 22 years old, Marshall had a zeal for life that knew no bounds; he reached for the stars in every project he took on and he will be sorely missed in this world. Born in Greensboro, NC on July 6, 1994, he also lived in High Point, NC, Charlotte NC, Simpsonville, SC, Columbia, SC and most recently, Pendleton, SC. In elementary/middle school years Marshall played church soccer, was on student council, won first place in the pinewood derby race in scouting and took piano lessons. In high school he played on the Hillcrest High School Lacrosse team; played bass violin in the orchestra under the direction of Angela Rex, as well as Regional Orchestra for the state of South Carolina. His areas of expertise in high school were history, math, science and making friends. Charm and spreading happiness was Marshall’s mantra. Marshall’s favorite principal was Ms. Terry. After attending Tri-county mechanics program for a short time, Marshall became assistant manager of several Precision Tune locations. In his short life, Marshall went through 9 cars. He tackled cars like he tackled everything else, at full speed and unfortunately this is what led to his demise. In addition to his mechanical career, Marshall was following his passion for becoming a music marketer/promoter. He also loved cooking, good books, movies, basketball (college and pro), Clemson football and spending time with family, both in North Carolina and with his grandparents in Hartwell, Georgia. He was a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church and spent many happy summers on the summer beach camp trips the church provided. He was baptized around the age of 10 and he loved the Lord. Survivors include his parents, Judith Lampron Cordell (Anderson, SC) and Jeffrey Edwin Cordell (Pendleton, SC); sisters: Mary Claire Cordell (Pendleton) and Sarah Christine Cordell (Clemson, SC); paternal grandparents John Marshall and Kathleen Mann Cordell (Hartwell, Ga); Aunts and Uncles: Louise Lampron-Welker (Norm Welker) of Greensboro, NC; Joe Lampron (Ann Lampron) of Denver, NC; Allen Lampron (Fran Lampron) of Winston-Salem, NC; Kathy Lampron of Charlotte, NC; Cousins: Sallie Lampron-Segalla (Nick Segalla) of Washington, DC; George Lampron (Katie Williams) of Raleigh, NC; Will Lampron of Denver, NC; Danny Lampron (Amy) of Seven Springs, NC; Phillip Lampron (Lauren) of Tarboro, NC and Ben Welker of Charlotte, NC. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents: Carolyn T. Lampron of Salisbury, NC and Anthony Joseph Lampron of Murfreesboro, TN.
