Obituary of Thursa Hawkins Capps

Thursa Hawkins Capps, 90, widow of Homer Jackson “Jack” Capps, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 7, 2023. Mrs. Capps was born in Greer to the late William Clyde Hawkins and Jennie Bell Hawkins. Thursa retired from the Greenville County School District after 22 years of service and was a life-long member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. She was faithful to her church and a member of the Esther Sunday School class. Thursa was a devoted and loving wife, sister, and mother. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed being “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving, are a son, Eddie Capps (Christi); daughter-in-law, Rhonda Capps; sister, Catherine Bayne; three grandchildren, Ross Capps (Kristen), Ashton Whitaker (Ryan), and Brian Capps; two great-grandchildren, Xander Terry, Jackson Whitaker, and expecting another great-grandson, Tanner Capps in November. She was predeceased by a son, Scott Capps; brother, William “Dan” Hawkins; and a grandson, Chris Terry. A celebration of Thursa’s life will be held at 2pm at Cross Roads Baptist Church, 705 Anderson Ridge Road Greer, SC 29651, officiated by the Reverends Jack Eason, Joey Estes, and Heath Carruth. The family will receive friends an hour prior. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
