Obituary of Kathy Jo Hames Smith

Kathy Jo Hames “Happy” Smith, 57, of Gray Court, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Kathy was born in Laurens on March 1, 1960, to the late Edward Eugene Hames and Kathryn Eliza Malone Hames Smith. She worked for the Alarm Monitoring Center, and previously worked for Timken and Delta Woodside Furman Plant. She was a lover of gospel music and was the most loving and caring woman you could know. To know her was to know laughter and Love. She is survived by a son, Bobby (Brianna) Hames of Belton, and a daughter, Brittany Hames of the home, one granddaughter, Addison, two special nephews, Jamie (Melisa) Smith, Justin (Jessica) Smith, special niece, Michelle (Jimmy) Rollins, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of thirty years, Robert Earl Smith, as well as a sister, Sandra Smith. Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 25 at 2pm, with burial following at the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.
