Ellen Virginia Kay Lemke, 87, widow of Charles August Lemke, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Mrs. Lemke was born in Fountain Inn to the late Benjamin Tillman Taylor, Sr. and Mattie Martha Sloan Taylor. She attended Apalache Baptist Church. Ellen worked at Victory Sports and Piedmont Shirt Company before retiring. She enjoyed cooking, decorating for the holidays, gardening, riding through the mountains, traveling, and going out to eat. She was a collector of Indian baby dolls, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are three sons, Wayne Kay, Jr. with wife Beth, Darrell Kay with wife Rena, and Mark Kay with wife Patti; two daughters, Cheri Turner with husband Carl Junior, and Karen Kay; a daughter-in-law, Kim Kay; a brother, Ben Taylor with wife Barbara; thirteen grandchildren, Jeff Kay, Angela Sellers, Brittany Kay, Crystal Watson, Rusty Kay, Christy Kay, Kayla Kay, Kristina Harbin, Jessica Sager, Amber Anthony, Acacia Kay, Jaryn Kay and Jayce Kay; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a beloved friend, Angie Thoreton. She was predeceased by two sons, Derrick Kay and Bobby Kay; a brother, Bud Taylor; and five sisters, Martha Thoreson, Hester Taylor, Clara Hughes, Blanch Burts, and Frances Huntley.

A Celebration of Ellen’s Life will be 1 o’clock Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Fountain Inn City Cemetery.
