Obituary of Joan Wilson

Joan Annette Permenter Wilson, 79, wife of Jim Wilson for 32 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2024.

 

Mrs. Wilson was born in Brownsville, TN to the late John Alton Permenter and Annie Lavernie “Vernie” Bell Permenter.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.  Joan started her career with Quaker Foods and later joined her husband at Wilson Sales Company, Inc., where she was an integral part of the growth and success of the company.  She and Jim were tennis enthusiasts, and both were members of the U.S. Tennis Association.  Joan had a passion for gardening and served as a flower show judge at many competitive events.  She was a member of the Greenville Garden Council – serving as the treasurer and president of the Council.  She also served as president of the Fountain Inn Garden Club. 

 

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Linda Alexander, Kerri Craig, and Jennifer Gibson with husband Tim; two sons, Mike Wilson, Jr. with wife Cami, and Chris Wilson; a brother, Johnny Permenter with wife Sherry; three sisters, June Hutchins, Nancy Matthews with husband Richard, and Jerri Ruth Austin with husband Jeff; and six grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a sister, Billie Jean Hoppers and her husband Larry Hoppers.

 

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church.  A Celebration of Joan’s Life will begin at 12 noon following the visitation.  Burial will be in Gadsden, TN.
