Obituary of Dorothy Rodgers

Dorothy Newell Harvey Rodgers, 94, widow of James Asa “Jim” Rodgers, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2024.

 

Mrs. Rodgers was born in Greensboro, NC to the late Harris Graham Harvey, Sr. and Pryor Elsie Dunning Harvey.  She was a member of New Spring Church.  Dorothy was an alumna of Georgia Baptist College of Nursing and retired as a Registered Nurse with NHC.  She enjoyed gardening, church activities, and music.  She loved children in general but especially cherished her grandchildren.

 

Surviving are two sons, Michael Rodgers with wife Teresa, and Mark Rodgers; two daughters, Lisa Gilbert with husband Daren, and Laura Rodgers with husband Scott; four grandchildren, Courtney Ashley with husband Steven, Haley Hawkins with husband Austin, Sean Gilbert and Erin Schlock; and five great-grandchildren, Kelsey Teague, Brendan Teague, Kyler Teague, Asa Hawkins and Hartlee Hawkins.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Graham Harvey, Jr. and David Harvey.

 

A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be 1 o’clock Wednesday in the mausoleum chapel at Graceland East Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. 

 

The Florence Nightingale Tribute will be performed by the S.C. Nurses Honor Guard.
