Obituary of Eugenia Ashley

Please share a memory of Eugenia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eugenia Pressley Ashley, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Eugenia was born in Honea Path to the late Truman Eugene Pressley and Virginia Catherine Kirby Pressley. She was a lifelong member of Columbia Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School class.  She worked many years at Her Majesty as a seamstress and enjoyed sewing and making things for others. Eugenia was a kind spirit - she loved her family, and was known as “Nanny” to all.  She leaves many with a Legacy of Love- each night before bedtime many received a text “Goodnight, I Love You”.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Mewbourn (Ricky); daughter-in-law, Dava Ashley; son-in-law Markus Vinson; loving cousins and siblings at heart, Andy Chapman (Cindy), Linda Gambrell (Bud), Frances Poole (Lester), and Patricia Davis (Don); eight grandchildren, Johnny Mewbourn, Ashley Norwood (Michael), Alivia Harper (Cedric), Dakota Mewbourn, Gracie Ashley, Katie Whitlock (Owen), Christian Ashley, and Abby Vinson; and eight great-grandchildren, Jamey, Lyndsee, Sydney, Amiyah, Austyn, Pressley, Kaden, Bailey, and Blakelyn.  She was predeceased by a son, Randal Ashley; a daughter, Mandy Vinson; friend and father of her children, J.C. Ashley; loving cousins and sibling at heart, Sue Hollingsworth, Gerlad Reeves, Faye Long, and Katherine Adkerson.

A Celebration of Eugenia’s Life will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday at Columbia Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Greg Gambrell, Rev. Travis Brooks, and Rev. Mark Chapman. Burial will be 3 o’clock Wednesday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
