Obituary of Ruth Barbrey

Ruth McCraw Barbrey, 85, widow of Jerry Walter Barbrey, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 15, 2024.

Mrs. Barbrey was born in Inman, SC to the late Deaver Daiten McCraw, Sr. and Velma Harriett Bridwell McCraw.  She was a member of First Baptist Simpsonville and the Challengers Sunday School Class.  Ruth was an alumnus of Anderson College and retired as a dental assistant.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking and attending Bible study groups.

Surviving are a son, Mike Barbrey with wife Traci; a daughter, Beth Chapman with fiancé Vince Bryant; four grandchildren, Will Chapman, Erin Chapman, Milli Hart with husband Austin, and Miles Barbrey; and two sisters-in-law, Shell McCraw and Adeline Savage.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Daiten McCraw, Jr. and Joe McCraw; a sister, Mary Ruef; and a son-in-law, Billy Chapman.

A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be 2 o’clock Friday at First Baptist Simpsonville in the sanctuary.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park at 4 o’clock Friday.
