Obituary of Roy Laxton

Roy Raymond Laxton, Jr., husband of Frances Neves Laxton for 46 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Mr. Laxton was born in Union, SC to the late Roy Raymond Laxton, Sr. and Opal Geneva Lequire.  He was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church.  Roy was a graduate of Cecils Business College and a veteran of the US Army.  He retired from Michelin and then with Frances founded Roy’s Campground which they operated together for many years.  Roy was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, camping and chopping wood.  He was a Clemson Tiger fan and enjoyed cooking and grilling out.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons with their wives, Brad and Misty Laxton, Eddie and Stacy Laxton, and Chad and Liz Laxton; a sister, Joan Sumner; and six grandchildren, Savannah Laxton, Sarah Laxton, Lauren Laxton, Morgan Laxton, Emily Laxton and Levi Laxton.   He was predeceased by a sister, Lib Hughes.

A Celebration of Roy’s Life, with Military Honors, will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday at Fairview Presbyterian Church.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Burial will be private.
