Obituary of Sara Looney

Sara Bee Lominick Looney, 90, of Fountain Inn, SC, passed peacefully on January 31, 2024.

 

Mrs. Looney was born in Newberry, SC to the late James Richard Lominick, Sr. and Mary Martha Hickson Lominick. She attended Newberry High School and was a proud graduate of Newberry College, Class of 1951. She also received a Master of Education Degree from Clemson University in 1975.

 

Mrs. Looney was a life-long member of the Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church, and member of the Ruth Cox Curry Sunday School Class. She was a past President of the Women of the Church, and sang in the choir for many years. She retired from Fountain Inn Elementary School after 28 years of teaching first grade. She enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid reader, and above all else spending time with her family and friends.

 

She is survived by three children, Martha Snow, Jimmy Looney (Revonda), and Marie Mahon (Henry); six grandchildren, Fran Carden (Phillip), Olivia Bajoczky (Andy), Anna Snow (fiancé Blake Walker), Evan Mahon, Weston Looney, (Elizabeth) and Avery Mahon (Mary Cate); six great-grandchildren, Collin Carden, Bryce Carden, Jameson Looney, Wallace Bajoczky, Virginia Bajoczky, and Henry Mahon; a brother, James Richard Lominick, Jr.; and a sister, Cindy Lominick Snell. She was predeceased by a sister, Martha Lominick Rucker.

 

The family would like to thank NHC in Mauldin and The Palmettos Assisted Living Facility for all of their care and support, and to Dr. Andy McCraw for his amazing care through the years.

 

A Celebration of Sara’s Life will be held 12 noon Saturday at Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Whitney Moss. The family will receive friends from 10:30-12 noon.  Burial will follow in Cannon Byrd Memorial Park.
