Obituary of Jayne Thompson

Elizabeth Jayne Smith Thompson, 78, wife of Thomas Russell “Tommy” Thompson for 56 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Panama City, FL to the late Clinton Jones Smith, Jr. and Marian Doris Jones Smith.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fountain Inn.  Jayne was an alumnus of Limestone College and retired as a Guidance Counselor for Greenville County Schools.  She enjoyed yard work – especially cutting grass – and found great peace in watching hummingbirds.  She was a collector of Beanie Babies and Disney Movies.

JJ, as she was affectionately known, cherished her family, friends, and faith.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her nine grandchildren.  She will be deeply missed by her family, including her husband Tommy, her children Rusty, Chad (with wife Karen and sons Reece and Kaylor), Sandi with husband Jeff and kids Jefferson, Smith, Ellis Jayne and Adeline), and Mitch with wife Alyssa and kids Zane, Aubrey, and Jones. 

A private Celebration of Jayne’s Life was held at the home of Sandi Summers on Friday, February 23^rd.
