Obituary of David Carbeno

1960-2023

David Allen Carbeno, age 63, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. He was born on April 19, 1960, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Melvin and Shirley Carbeno. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Saginaw and from Northwood Institute in 1983 with a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management. He worked in a variety of positions in the Executive Escalations Group for 24 years at Comcast Corporation. On February 4, 2017, after 30 years together, he married Stephen L. Linebaugh in Boynton Beach, Florida. Dave and Steve were together for 36 years. The couple lived in Pontiac, Michigan, Lake Worth, Florida and, most recently, Simpsonville, South Carolina since 2020. His parents preceded him in death.

Dave was colorful character with many interests. He was an avid golfer, active in bowling teams, a delicious cook, a lottery aficionado and enjoyed the family’s annual summer camping trip in Michigan. He was loving and supportive husband to Steve. Dave had a lively network of close friends from over the years. He always found humor in life and loved to regale his family and friends with humorous comments and stories. He loved joking and having a fun time over bottles of wine. Dave and Steve travelled to Hong Kong, China, and Italy – which included an Italian cooking course that Dave loved. Dave was close with his siblings and family and enjoyed spending time together with them.

He is survived by his husband: Stephen L. Linebaugh of Simpsonville; his sister, Jean Kreidler of Marblehead, Ohio and three nephews – Jamie, Matthew and Deryk Wray and his brother, Steve Carbeno (Perri) and two nephews – Brandon Carbeno and his two children and Chad (Tiffany) Carbeno and their three children.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on May 4, 2024, at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Simpsonville, SC. with a reception to follow at their home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dave’s memory to a charitable organization of your choice.
