Norma Norwood Obituary

Norma Elaine “Snooky” Norwood, 77, widow of Heyward Joe Norwood, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2024.




Mrs. Norwood was born in Fork Shoals to the late James Thomas Kellett, Sr. and Eula Mae Donald Kellett. She retired from Her Majesty and later worked at Eckerd’s Drug Store and as the assistant librarian at the Fountain Inn Library. She was a member of the former Fairview Street Baptist Church. Snooky loved to travel and trips to the beach. She enjoyed reading Harlequin Romance Novels and watching the Hallmark Channel. Snooky relished her opportunities to dine out with her sisters. She and Heyward were regulars at local dirt track racing. She was a collector of Blue Willow China, red Cardinal figurines, and purses. Her greatest joy was being “Grandma” to her grandchildren.




Surviving are a daughter, Tracy Griffin with husband Alan; a brother, Tony Kellett with wife Jan – which Snooky considered a sister; two sisters, Maxine Vaughan and Carol Bindewald with husband John; a son-in-law, Derek Hefner; five grandchildren, Tommy Cotton with wife Carrie, Madison Bennefield, Savannah House with husband Brennen, Brianna Hefner and Evan Griffin; and seven great-grandchildren, Kingston, Xander, Cooper, Abby, Kamden, Keagan and Gunner. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mandy Bennefield.




A Celebration of Snooky’s Life will be 1 o’clock Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park.
