Obituary of Elaine Bruce

Carolyn “Elaine” Bruce, 74, wife of Richard Earl Bruce for 56 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Mrs. Bruce was born in Williamston, SC to the late Henry Luther Ross and Gladys Beatrice Clark Ross. She retired after more than 40 years at Kemet Electronics, where she volunteered as president of the Kemet Recreation Association. Elaine also served on the Pelzer Heritage Commission for many years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed landscaping.  Most of all, Elaine loved her family and being “Nana” to her grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Chris Bruce and Jody Bruce; a daughter, Beth Mayfield with husband Doug; two sisters, Jackie King and Glenda Allen with husband Larry; four grandchildren, Sawyer Mayfield, Presley Mayfield, Cameron Smith, and Bella Bruce; a great-grandson, Rhodes Mayfield; and honorary family, James Cook with two sons, Rev Cook and Zak Cook; and Jackie Queen with two sons, Radley Jennings, and Tommy Jennings.  She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Janie Bruce; and a sister, Sandra Hamby.

The family would like to thank the staff at McCall Hospice House for the out-pouring care and support given during Elaine’s time there.
