Billy Windell Painter, 89, husband of the late Barbara Oneal Cox Painter, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 15, 2024.
Mr. Painter was born in Greenville, SC to the late Draper Windell Painter and Martha Monima Hughes Painter. He retired from the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam. After serving his country, he retired from Woven Electronics with over 30 years of service. Bill was a member of Five Forks Baptist Church, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, HEJAZ Shrine Club and Masonic Lodge #311. He was a graduate of Greenville Technical College. Bill enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a collector of pocket knives and watches.
Surviving are a son, Scott Painter with wife Dawn; a daughter, Sandra Painter with husband John; a brother, Charles Painter with wife Frances; two granddaughters, Lindsay DuPree with husband Dustin, and Savannah Painter; two great-granddaughters, Elaina and Samara; and a beloved companion Carolyn Kellett. He was predeceased by two sisters, Martha Jean Hipps and Clara Nell Kirby.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be 10 o’clock Friday at Five Forks Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.
