Obituary of Nancy Barton

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy Gayle Dunn Barton, 74, wife of Michael Milton “Mike” Barton for 48 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Nancy was born in Franklin, KY to the late William Henry “Bill” Dunn and Nannie Lou Holman Dunn.  She was a member of Beth Haven Baptist Church and was an alumnus of Western Kentucky University (WKU).  Nancy served as an educator at Arran Baptist Church School in Fayetteville, NC and later retired from the primary school at East Georgia Road Baptist Church.  Her joy in life was gardening and she was a longtime member of the Simpsonville Garden Club.  Nancy loved baking and creating cookie crafts for family and friends.  She was an avid supporter of animals and worked diligently to ensure that no animal was left homeless.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Jessica Walker with husband Detrick, and Krista Barton; a sister, Shirley Davis with husband Jerry; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved rescue-dogs Missy and Apple.

A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be 1 o’clock Sunday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Rick Kohler.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Appendix Cancer/Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Fund, c/o NORD - Donations Department 5930, P.O. Box 4110, Woburn, MA 01888.
