Obituary of John William Harrison

John William “Johnny” Harrison, 95, husband of Margaret Stoddard Harrison for 70 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Mr. Harrison was born in Simpsonville to the late John Hampton Harrison and Maggie Lee Richardson Harrison. He retired from T.E. Jones Furniture and City Tire Recapping. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Owings United Methodist Church. Johnny served as the past President of the Wattsville Lions Club and served many years as the Sunday school superintendent. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, David Harrison and wife Nell; a daughter, Jane Willis and husband Marion; six grandchildren, Scott Willis and wife Andrea, Diana Nelson and husband Larry, Jamie Willis and wife Rebecca, Angela Robinson and husband Shawn, Michael Harrison and Tim Willis; and eight great -grandchildren, Laurryn Thomas, Jack Nelson, Luke Willis, Thomas Willis, Ben Willis, Sydney Robinson, Elliot Barksdale and Bryce Willis. He was predeceased by three sisters, Margaret Coley, Mary Harrison and Frances Ridgeway. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Owings Presbyterian Church. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Owings UMC cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Special thanks go to Johnny’s caretakers, Beverly, Cassidi, Christie, Charlene, Darlene, Barbara, Gail and Rudy; and to the staff of Hospice of Laurens County. Your care and compassion during our father’s life will forever be remembered.
