Obituary of Sherry Beck

Sherry Jean Wood Beck, 67, widow of Rev. James Harold Beck, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Mrs. Beck was born in Laurens to the late Walter Murphy “Dub” Wood, Jr. and Doris Jean Roberts Wood.  She was a member of Fountain Inn Church of God of Prophecy.  Sherry was a devoted wife and supported Rev. Beck’s pastorates including Courts of Praise in Gray Court, House of Prayer in Simpsonville, and Highland Church of God of Prophecy in Greer.  She worked at Community Cash and Bi-Lo prior to her ministry with Rev. Beck.  She enjoyed reading and trips to the mountains and the beach.  She loved spending time with her family and being “Nana” to her grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, David Beck with wife Michele; a daughter, Jennifer Godfrey with husband Jeffrey; and five grandchildren, Patricia Beck, Duwayne Beck, Trinity Godfrey, Quentin Beck and Shelby Godfrey.  She was predeceased by a brother, Jake Wood.

A Celebration of Sherry’s Life will be 10 o’clock Wednesday in the mausoleum chapel of Graceland East Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
