We members of the Alleghany football officials remember all the wonderful memories of calling the football games with Johnnie. The fun we had in our travels to and from the games were called will always be remembered. Praying 4 God's comfort and love to Johnnie's family and friends.

We send our love and prayers to Elwanda and family. Johnny and Elwanda were the first friends to greet us
on our first Sunday at our church - from then on, we have treasured their friendship. Our memory of Johnny
will be of his great humor, his loving care for others, his faithfulness to his church and his love for Jesus Christ ,
our Lord and Savior. Our loss, but Heaven’s gain.

I met Johnnie when I was in 7th grade and was a scorekeeper for the basketball team at Gap Mills Jr High. My mom, Donna Jo, was his 1st cousin, and she told me to go up to him and tell him we were kin. I did and from then on we were buddies. I loved him dearly and enjoyed talking to him throughout the years. He was a great man and we will miss him, but will see him again some sweet day. Love, Buffy

Johnny was the epitome of the true family man and provider!! His knowledge of the baseball game was witnessed throughout all of Southwest Va. He made baseball special and so many who grew having imported us and even went on to teach the art of being a knowledgeable, fair and stern umpire. I for one truly honored to have known him and called him a friend and greatly appreciate the friendship he shared with my late father in law, Marvin Nida!! Go rest night on that mounts Johnny.
