Obituary of Beth Moss

Please share a memory of Beth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Beth Tripp Moss (Ivie Elizabeth), of Simpsonville, S.C., passed away on July 7, 2024 in the arms of her husband Glenn with other family members attending. Beth was born January 12, 1967 to Iber Valasco Tripp and Frances Hughes Tripp.

Predeceased by her parents, Beth is survived by her husband of 28 years Glenn Ellis Moss, as well as their three children Eric, Miriam, and Ivy. She is also survived by her sister Blair.

Beth attended Lander College where she earned a BA. Later she worked as a photographer for Olan Mills which is how she met Glenn when he came in to be photographed as a gift for his parents.

Always a road warrior, Beth and Blair enjoyed traveling together making many baseball trips to see the Cincinnati Reds, touring minor league ballparks, and even road tripping to California to see as many baseball games as possible. Walt Disney World was also a frequent destination for travel. When the kids were born the traveling didn’t stop. The kids just became road warriors like their mom. In the past few years Buc-ees became a favorite destination. Beth was always up for a trip. When her family realized her days for trips were limited, they all took a day to make a road trip happen taking Beth on a day trip to Buc-ees in Tennessee.

Wherever Beth’s kids were, it was certain Beth was there, too, as she often filled the role of both mother and father when Glenn was away with the Navy. Beth chaperoned countless school field trips even making five trips to Washington D.C. She tried to never miss an award ceremony, play, recital, or concert which was sometimes a challenge to go in three different directions.

An active member of her church St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Beth taught religious education there for many years as well as Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the church’s hospitality committee and volunteered in Parish functions serving wherever she was needed.

After encouraging Eric to attend the Boy Scouts of America, Beth became involved herself. Always active in the Scouts, she participated in numerous Boy Scout Day Camps sometimes acting as director. She was also instrumental in starting the Blue Ridge Council’s first Female Scouts BSA Troop serving as the troop’s first Scoutmaster. In 2022, Beth received the District Award of Merit for her service to BSA. Scouting is something the Moss family did together including moving to a Venturing Crew when the children aged out of Scouts.

Though her life seems short, Beth lived a full life the way she wanted to. She touched a great many lives and she will be just as greatly missed.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff, nurses, and doctors in the St. Francis Hospital system. And the family would like to give a very, very special thank you to Pruitt Health Hospice Care, especially to Nurse Tangie and CNA Lainey.

Visitation will be held at Fletcher Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, 5:00 pm-7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Thursday, July 11, at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Greenville Scout Shop, 1 Park Plaza, Greenville, SC 29607 (864-288-1560) to provide uniforms and supplies to needy Scout families free of charge.
