Obituary of Gertrude "Trudie" Perry

Gertrude “Trudie” Shirley Perry, 90, wife of John Franklin Perry for 72 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Mrs. Perry was born in Belton to the late Herman Cecil Shirley and Thelma Louise Cox Shirley.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Woodruff and worked most of  her life in childcare. She loved children, and being “Ma-ma” to her grandchildren. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, baking, and crocheting.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, is a son, Keith Perry and wife Frances; two grandchildren, Jon Perry and wife Sherry and Austin Perry and wife Melissa; six great-grandchildren, Shaylynn Perry, Drake Perry Samantha Perry, Avery Norwood, Madison Norwood and Kaitlyn Bowers with husband Josh; and six great-great-grandchildren, Rosalyn Perry, Taylor Bowers, Rachel Bowers, Brody Bowers, Deliah Norwood, and Drea Norwood. She was predeceased by a daughter, Fredda Monroe; and a brother, Don Shirley.

A Celebration of Trudie’s Life will be 3 o’clock Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Beth Hoskins. The family will receive friends an hour prior.
