Ruby Norwood Obituary

Mrs. Norwood was born in Fresno, CA to the late Ebel Jefferson Thatcher and Blanche Anna Grow Thatcher. Ruby was proud to have been raised on the Miwuk Indian Reservation located in Mariposa CA. She had a lifelong love of animals – her favorites being her German Shepard “Tim” and her horse “Connie”. Ruby was an active woman who loved singing, dancing, hunting, and fishing. Ruby collected angel figurines. She was a founding member of Grace Community Chappel and found great joy in helping others. Ruby retired from Kemet Electronics.




Ruby passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on August 28th.


Surviving are her husband, Calvin Norwood; son Wink Fulton with wife Anna; six daughters, Debbie Pieslak, Chayrl Annette with husband Ed, Joann Perry, Judy Stiles with husband John, Patty Mitchell with husband Dan, and Angie Worthington; stepson Glenn Norwood with wife Candy; stepdaughters Rhonda Jones with husband Winfred, and Kim Mahaffey with husband Dale; and sixty- one grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruby was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Winford Fearl Fulton; four brothers, Lawrence Thatcher, Robert “Bobby” Thatcher, Ebel “Manny” Thatcher, and Donald Thatcher; three sisters, Dorothy Bolden, Pearl Hilburn and Ruth McDowell.




The family will receive friends between 5 – 7 PM Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service, Fountain Inn SC.




A celebration of Ruby’s life will be 1 o’clock Friday at Grace Community Chappel, Hwy 101, Gray Court SC. Burial will follow at the Grace Community Chappel Cemetery.
