Obituary of Lyle Ross Eaton

Master Sergeant (Ret) Lyle "Ross" Eaton, 77, died peacefully in his Simpsonville, SC home on August 9, 2016. He was a USAF veteran that participated in The Vietnam War. Ross was born on January 4, 1939 in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Carroll B. and Helen E. Eaton. He was discharged with full honors after 22 years 2 months and 2 days. Ross received several accommodations including the Distinguished Flying Cross. MSGT Eaton was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He married Bette Gosnell in Paris, IL in 1956. After her passing, he was married to Cheryl Kinard in 1987. His attention to detail and commitment to honor made him an exceptional airman and public servant as a Postal worker, Sheriff Deputy, and as a Quality Assurance Specialist for the federal government. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his sons, Ross, Jr. (Debbie), Carroll Franklin "Lin" (Cindy), Randy, Phil (Veda) and his daughter Chrissy. Ross has eight grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Bette and his brother, Bill. The visitation will take place from 1:00-2:30 on Friday, August 12 at First Baptist Church Simpsonville, with the service immediately following. The service will be officiated by Pastor Randy Harling. Burial, with full Military Honors, will be at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn. Flowers may be sent to Fletcher Funeral Service in Fountain Inn. Memorials may be made to the SC Patriot Guard Riders, 5953 Pleasant Farm Drive, Beaufort, SC 29906; or to Simpsonville First Baptist Church Building Fund, 3 Hedge Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
