Jack Rogers

Obituary of Jack Rogers

Please share a memory of Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charles Jack Rogers was born on February 14, 1962.  His mother said he was the best Valentine’s Day gift she ever received.

Jack grew up in the Carolinas, attending Christ Church high school in South Carolina.  His mother, a math teacher, and his father, a banker, fostered a love of numbers and science.  Jack spent four of his favorite years at Duke University, enlisting in the Navy his sophomore year.  After graduating with a degree in electrical engineering, Jack began his service as a nuclear submarine officer in the United States Navy.  While stationed in San Diego, California, Jack met Dedra Ruth Guy, the love of his life.  They married in July of 1988 and welcomed two daughters in 1991 and 1994.  They returned to South Carolina in 1998, and raised their family in Greenville.  Jack was in active duty for 10 years, followed by 20 in the navy reserves.  He retired at the rank of Captain in June of 2012.  Jack never met a stranger- he loved telling stories and helping others.  Jack loved his family, Duke basketball, and a crisp double IPA any time of the year.  After a lengthy illness, Jack departed from us on Monday, November 25th, passing peacefully in his sleep.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Dedra, his two daughters, Ashley and Morgan, his sister, Mary, and countless friends and family. We love him, and we will miss him forever.
