Wayne Jones Obituary

Wayne Alvin Jones, 75, widower of Karen Teresa Jones, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 13, 2024. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Alvin C. and Madge Mayfield Jones.


Wayne was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid photographer. His career in the meteorological field inspired his interest following the weather. When Wayne was not outside, he enjoyed working on computers and was a member of a local Apple computer group. Wayne was a faithful member of Five Forks Baptist Church, serving as a sound technician and participating in many church activities.


Surviving, are two daughters, Tara Reed and Jennifer Darrough; six grandchildren, Jaime Reed, Jacob Reed, Preston Darrough, Evelyn Reed, Aimee Darrough, and Eliana Reed; and a great-granddaughter, Amelia Reed. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Savannah Darrough; and an infant sister, Carol.


The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Five Forks Baptist Church. A Celebration of Wayne’s life will follow beginning at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
