Obituary of Minnie Brooks
Minnie “Lee” Chastain Brooks, 83, of Fountain Inn, SC, died peacefully on July 20, 2017, surrounded by family at Fairview Park Assisted Living in Simpsonville, where she had become a popular resident over the past 18 months.
Mrs. Brooks worked in retail management for many years before owning and operating her own business, Sarah Anne’s Undercover World in Simpsonville, until her retirement. She was a charter member of Fox Run Country Club and a longtime member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church, where she served in various capacities. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Brooks, a native of Pickens SC, is the wife of the late Alf Brooks, Jr., and is survived by three children: Sandra Brooks Saye, Tricia Brooks and her husband Stacy Eaton, and Buddy Brooks and his wife Sherri, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother but was pre-deceased by three siblings.
Family will receive friends at Fletcher Funeral Home on Friday, July 28 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 29, at Fountain Inn First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Lutheran Homes of South Carolina Foundation, 300 Ministry Drive, Irmo, SC, 29063, to whom the family is so grateful for the comfort of the hospice services they provided to Mrs. Brooks in her final weeks.
