Iduna Beason Obituary
Iduna Godfrey Pearson Cox Beason, age 93, wife of the late Charles Beason of Simpsonville, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Restoration Senior Living in Simpsonville.
Born February 26, 1931, in Greer, she was a daughter of the late Willie Douglas “Bob” Godfrey and Gladys Lou Kemp Godfrey.
She was a devoted member of Clear Spring Baptist Church since 1959, teaching Sunday School, leading GA’s and later the Senior Adult Group. Iduna loved to sew, read and travel whenever possible. One of her greatest joys was being "Granny" to her grandchildren.
Iduna retired from Union Carbide in Simpsonville and prior to Union Carbide she worked at Her Majesty in Mauldin for many years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Talley (Ron) of Simpsonville and Becky Gault (Sam) of Fountain Inn; a brother, Harold Godfrey (Tracy) of Greer; four grandchildren, Michael Talley (Andrea), Kelly Groom (Rich), Cory Gault (Rebecca) and Kimberly Abdella (Chris); and eight great-grandchildren, Shannon Talley, David Talley, Pearson Groom, Holland Groom, CeCe Gault, Sam Gault, Lilly Gault Abdella, and Christopher Abdella. She also leaves sisters-in-law Cecila Godfrey and Ruthell Godfrey, and much-loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by husbands John Bevley Pearson and Henry Cox, brothers John (JB) Godfrey and Alvin Godfrey, sister Myrtice Sherbert and niece Lisa Foster.
A celebration of Iduna's life will begin at 3 o'clock Tuesday at Clear Spring Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Restoration Senior Living, Interim Hospice nurse, Becky Davis, and sitter, Dee for their loving care.
