Leroy “Lee” H. Sims, 82, husband of Carol Damron Sims, died Friday, December 27, 2024 after an extended battle with cancer. Born in Gary, IN, he was a son of the late Delmer C. Sims and the late Helen Swelnis Gholston.

Lee spent his career as an ironworker from Local 395. Lee traveled the country working on various projects during his career which included installing fans in a tunnel in Hawaii. He was a hard worker and good provider for his family. Lee met Carol in Michigan in 1984 and they were married in 1995.

In addition to his wife, Carol of Mauldin, SC, Lee is survived by his son, David (Debbie) of Springhill, FL; daughter, Cindy of Frankfort, IN; brother, Gary (Wanda) of Chesterton, IN; step-sons, Warren “Butch” (Michelle) of Sanford, MI and Todd (Ashely) of Rock Hill, SC; three grandsons, Nicholas, Morgan, and David Lee; thirteen step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Linda Sims; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by a brother, Delmer Sims.

Per Lee’s wishes, services will be private.
