Obituary of Joe Mattioli

Please share a memory of Joe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joseph Vincent Mattioli, 84, husband of the late Joann Liguori Mattioli for 60 years, was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 24th, 2024.

Joe was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Alvaro Mattioli and Bertha Zelius Mattioli. Joe served in the United States Navy and was an Embalmer/Funeral Director for Boulevard Riverside Chapels for 31 years. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus, proudly serving as a past Grand Knight.

Surviving are three daughters, Gina Negovetic (Neal), Diane Farrugia (George), Dana Mattioli (Bobby); Joe was lovingly called Papa by three grandchildren, Julianne Trejo (Bryant), Boo and Crissana, and a great-grandson Joey. He was uncle to a special niece, Susan Bradley, and nephews Billy, Bobby, and Tommy Cappiello. Joe also leaves behind his two cats that he loved so much, Brutus and Caesar.

In addition to his loving wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Pietsch.

Joe’s greatest passion was telling stories and jokes to anyone who would listen. He always had people laughing. He loved taking care of family.

Visitation will be 4 - 6 o'clock Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

A Funeral Service will begin at 12 noon Friday in the chapel of Fletcher Funeral Service.

Military honors will be provided by the US Navy Honor Guard and standing guard will be provided by the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard.

Because of his love for animals, memorials in Joe’s honor may be made to Speak for Animals, P.O. Box 24185, Greenville, SC 29616.

In Joe’s own words; “Did you hear the one about …….?”
