Stephanie Lay Obituary

Stephanie Elaine Lay, 46, wife of Timothy D. Lay, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024. Born in Jellico, TN, she was a daughter of Arthur D. Douglas and Vivian Rose and Jack Widener.

Stephanie was the definition of a people person. Her career in human resources allowed opportunities to interact with many people. She loved her job and her coworkers, keeping in touch with them even after they moved to new positions or departments. Stephanie also placed a high priority on her neighbors and family. She was a proud “Nana” and spent lots of quality time with her grandchildren.

Stephanie enjoyed watching football and was an avid Tennessee Vols and Green Bay Packers fan. She enjoyed traveling and seeing various parts of the country. More recently, Stephanie enjoyed spending time at the lake.

In addition to her husband, Tim, Stephanie is survived by three sons, Tyler Lay (Ashlyn King), Gavin Lay, and Nolan Gage Lay; a daughter, Alexis Gilbert (Brandon); two grandchildren, Zander Gilbert and Ivy Lay; a sister, Christine Douglas; step-brother, Clark Widener; three step-sisters, Ashley Caddell, Abbey Beattie, and Shannon Widener; and many extended family members.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at First Baptist Simpsonville Upstate Church from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm. The funeral service will follow beginning at 3:30 pm.
