Obituary of Sherry Nimmo

Please share a memory of Sherry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sherry Elizabeth Hodges Nimmo, born on March 9, 1963, passed away on January 12, 2025.

Sherry was the beloved wife of the late Thomas E. Nimmo, whom she described as the love of her life. She was the cherished daughter of Jeanette and William “Bill” Hodges and a devoted mother to Ashley Garrett (Josh Garrett). Her pride and joy were her grandsons, William Garrett and Walker Ray Garrett, whom she fiercely adored. Sherry is also survived by her sisters, Kathryn Horne (Danny Horne) and B.J. Hodges; her aunt Charline Adams; and her dear friend and caregiver, Misti Davis. She leaves behind numerous nieces, including Danielle Sowers (Chuck Sowers), Lara Conner (Garrett Conner), Karen Caryl (Jason Caryl), Amanda Dever (Nathan Dever), Amy Grayson, and Jessica Trott, as well as many great-nieces and nephews too numerous to name.

Sherry had a deep love for gardening and earned her Master Gardener certification from Clemson University. Her passion for plants was matched only by her love for her dogs, Hope and Gracie. Professionally, she worked as a paralegal in various fields, bringing dedication, passion and skill to every role she undertook.

Her vibrant personality lit up every room she entered. Known for her wicked sense of humor and larger-than-life presence, Sherry was a fierce friend, a devoted daughter, and a loving sister who left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She found joy in celebrating holidays, participating in church activities, and spending time with friends, including involvement in dinner theater productions.

Sherry’s memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her legacy of love, laughter, and strength bring comfort to those she leaves behind. Until we meet again—she will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held at Fletcher Funeral Service in Fountain Inn on Friday, January 17, 2025 beginning at 12:00 pm.  Burial will follow in Cannon-Byrd Memorial Park.  The family will also have a celebration in Florida in the near future.
