Obituary of Eric Young

Arvid Eric Young, Jr., 86, husband of Geraldine Mae “Gerry” Jindracek Young for 62 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Mr. Young was born in Newark, NJ to the late Arvid Eric Young, Sr. and Evelyn Pearson Young.  He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church.  Eric was an alumnus of Stevens Institute of Technology and a member of the Beta Theta Phi Fraternity.  During his career as a mechanical engineer, he worked with United Technologies and Stone Safety, Inc.  He spent a year in Singapore for work before returning to the US.  Following retirement, he worked in the insurance profession with Prudential and ING.  Eric was an avid bridge player and reader.  He was a consummate subscriber to the Wall Street Journal and a keen follower of politics.  He enjoyed traveling and time at the beach.  Eric was the sweetest, kindest man and was famous for his great big hugs.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Andrew Young with wife Sue, and Chris Young with wife Linda; three grandchildren, Nicky Young, Brandon Young, and Katie Young; and a sister-in-law, Antoinette Pryor with husband Patrick.  He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. David Young and Peggy Young.

A committal service at the columbarium of Holy Cross Episcopal Church will begin at 2 o’clock Saturday, January 18^th.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
