Celebration of Life
Obituary of Charles Holland
Charles Holland, the “Distinguished Gentlemen,” and Nuclear Engineer, was born in Boiling Springs, North Carolina on November 17th, 1941. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Greenville, South Carolina. Charles passed away peacefully on January 21st, 2025, at the age of 83.
Charles graduated from North Carolina State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering. He worked in many facets of the engineering world. His career started with Boeing in Seattle Washington, then moving on to Brown and Root, Blount International, Babcock and Willcock, then CEO and President of his own consulting business, Carolina Energy. Charles also worked for Duke Energy and K-Gen Power before retiring. He loved traveling and enjoyed a good round of golf. A Saturday afternoon may consist of a nice glass of Scotch and a college football game, but spending time with his family trumped it all!
Charles made a significant impact on everyone he met. In his professional, and personal life, he was kind and caring and always had the best advice, but only if you asked him for it! With “Optimism” was the way he chose to look at life. Anyone who was blessed enough to know him adored and respected him greatly. He was so proud of his family and loved them so much. He will be missed beyond words.
Charles is preceded in death by his mother, Mae Holland; father, Tom Holland; brothers, Ron Holland and Jim Holland. He is survived by his wife Jean Holland; sister, Linda Easton; son, Charles Holland II and his wife Kelly; his daughter, Angie Holland Laporte and her husband Doug; his sons Jeff Wash and Hunter Wash, and their wives Carmen and Emily; his grandchildren, Alexis, Carrie, Eli, Gavin, Gemma, Isla, Lucas, Oliver, Luke, and Trevor; and his great-grandchildren Alaina, Benson, and Tess.
This is not a goodbye…this is a see you again one day Charles Lee. Dad, Brother, Papa Charles, PC, my friend. We love you always. Fly High!
There will be a tribute to his life on March 7th, 2025, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Thornblade Country Club in Greer, South Carolina. All are welcome and invited to share in celebrating his life with lots of memories, laughter, and love.
