Obituary of Jeter Garrett Jr.

Jeter Garrett Jr., 76, husband of Eleanor Cunningham Garrett for 54 years, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2017.

Mr. Garrett was born in Fountain Inn to the late Jeter Garrett Sr. and Etta Grace Rodgers Garrett.  He was the owner and operator of Garrett’s Barber Shop.  He started his career at the age of 13 and was the youngest licensed barber in the state of South Carolina for several years.  Jeter loved NASCAR, drag racing, hunting and fishing.  He served for 25 years on the Fountain Inn Fire Department and was a mason with Fountain Inn Masonic Lodge #192.  He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons and their wives, John and Angie Garrett, Jeff and Syndi Garrett, and Joey and Michele Garrett; a daughter, Jan Garrett; a sister, Jane Etta Harper and husband Don; and seven grandchildren, Susan Kohlmorgen and husband Chris, Jake Garrett, Josh Garrett, Jody Garrett and wife Brittany, Rick Garrett, Blakely Garrett and Jennifer Garrett.  He was predeceased by a sister, Sybil Babb.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Phil Whitt.  Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Cannon Memorial Park.
