Obituary of Robert Edward "Cub" Culbertson
Robert Edward “Cub” Culbertson, 65, of Fountain Inn, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Born in Greenville County on August 12, 1952, he was the son of the late Joe Earl Culbertson and Bessie Lois Thompson, and the husband of 45 years to Lynn Owens Culbertson. He loved the Lord, and was a member of Hillside Baptist Church. Cub was a “jack of all trades”, having spent his working life in various forms of construction. He had a passion for cooking, bluegrass music, and all things cowboy related. He loved to ride horses, fellowship with friends and family, and take trips to the mountains and the beach. He spent his free time hog hunting in the swamps of Georgia. Cub never met a stranger and he always lived life to the fullest. He lived by a simple motto: “I was built for comfort, not for speed.”
In addition to his wife, Cub is survived by his son, Joe Culbertson (Stephanie); a daughter, Leslie Lemmons (Marty); a brother, Tommy Traynham (Sherry); grandchildren, Camden Bennett, Brody Culbertson, and Easton Lemmons; his mother-in-law, Grace Harrell (Jerry); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah C. Sanfill.
The memorial service for Mr. Culbertson will be held at 3 o’clock on Sunday, March 25th, at Hillside Baptist Church, with Rev. Sean Sellars officiating. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service, beginning at 2 o’clock.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 530 Howell Road, Suite 201, Greenville, SC 29615.
