Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Mulligan Brashier passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior August 28,
2016. Betty was born June 14, 1934 to the late William F. and Lucy Dickard Mulligan. On
December 12, 1953 she married the love of her life, Fred Howard Brashier. Together they made
a loving home and raised two children, Denece Hendricks (Roger) and Tim Brashier who
predeceased her in 2011.
As a young bride, Betty joined her husband as a member of Unity Baptist Church. She
continued to worship and serve there faithfully until her health no longer permitted her to do so.
Through the years she was a member of the Mattie Talley Sunday School Class, Joy
Fellowship, Intercessory Prayer Team, Church Choir, helped with Bible School and served on
the Bereavement Committee. She dearly loved her church family and worshipping and serving
with them.

School in 1954. After working with several other companies, she began working with
BigelowSanford,
retiring as a Lead Customer Service Representative in 1988 21 years of
service. She had many happy memories and treasured friendships from childhood, high school
years, and the workplace until Alzheimer’s robbed her of those precious memories. Before her
illness she enjoyed spending time with family, church activities, trips with the Ft.Inn Activity
Center, old romantic movies, and anything chocolate.
Mama was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother.
She was an
amazing cook and homemaker. She devoted her life to her family and we were greatly blessed
by her tender heart and all she brought to our lives. Although our hearts are heavy, we rejoice
that she is now with the Lord healed and filled with joy. Our love for her is beyond measure and
we will forever cherish her memory. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also,
and he praises her. Proverbs 31:28
In addition to her beloved husband and daughter, she is survived by two grandchildren,
Stephanie Dickson (Joe) and Cameron Hendricks and fiance, Jordan Welborn; two
greatgrandchildren
Connor and Emma Dickson; a sister, Shirley M. Cotter and a brother, Ret.
Sgt. Major James Mulligan; several nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased
by a sister and her husband, Juanita M. and Milton Wallace; a sisterinlaw,
Ruth S. Mulligan.
She also leaves behind two brothersinlaw,
four sistersinlaw;
numerous nieces, nephews and
their families. She was predeceased by her inlaws,
John and Onie T. Brashier, four
brothersinlaw
and two sistersinlaw.
To the staff of Open Arms Hospice, how do we as a family find the words to express our

were treated with compassion, dignity and respect. You are truly angels of mercy. We extend a
special thank you to Elaine Swanson, Gennie Sullivan, Cindy Rice and Helen Villarta. You will
always have a place in our hearts and in our family.
