Obituary of Betty Sue Pharr

Betty Sue Smith Pharr, 74, wife to the late Sherman Chamblin Pharr, Jr., died Thursday, May 24, 2018.  She was surrounded by her loving family at her side.   

Betty was born in Longview, TX to the late Bill Thomas Smith & Minnie Bullock Smith. 

Betty was a stay at home mother, and a self-described “domestic engineer”.  She was a self-taught artist, a brilliant decorator, collector of antiques, & collector of eclectic art.  Her most precious gems were her husband of 53 years, her children and grandchildren.   

Surviving is a daughter, Candace Hope Lienau, and husband Christopher; son, Sherman Chamblin Pharr III and wife Victoria; three grandchildren: Corbin Christopher & Addison Faith Lienau & Lucas Sherman Pharr & one brother, Joe Marshall Smith, and many nieces & nephews.  

She was predeceased by a grandchild, Collin Chamberlain Lienau, one brother, William Franklin Smith and six sisters, Bernadine Woodford, Alice Emogene Kennon, Billie Thelma Melton, Geraldine Smith, Evelyn Yvonne McGregor, & Rita Jo Brown.   

A celebration of her life will be held privately among immediate family at a later date.  Memorials may be made by “paying it forward” to someone with kindness, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
